We are deeply saddened by the loss of a wonderful man who lived his life with honesty and humility. Hal always brought joy to all who knew him by freely sharing his humor, wisdom, and sincere caring of all human beings. You can't help but smile when you think of him. His legacy is that of a truly good and selfless person. We are thankful for having been lucky enough to have Hal touch our lives.
Although he has been taken from us, the admiration and love felt by his friends and family will live on. Our sincerest condolences and prayers to Erika and all the family.

Dear Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Uncle Harros illness and his falling asleep in death.
My deepest sympathies are with all of you .
Uncle Harro was such a hard working, happy and positive person who was known for his great hospitality. He also was a good husband to Erika and father to his children.
..There are so many fond memories over the years during our family gatherings when we all enjoyed each others company and shared meals and talked for hours etc.I will never forget him as he added sparkle to our lives .I will miss him too .
My daughters Shawn and Jeanette also send their sympathies as they were saddened by the news. They remember him as a good person and great uncle and he had a beautiful smile.
Love to all of you there. Marion

Looking at my associations over time, and equating them with trees, Hal Lapinski can only be described as a great Sequoia, giant among trees, and that Hal was a giant among men. I am still feeling pangs of loss at his passing, though taking comfort in knowing he is reunited with his people. Having only known him the past 4 years, there are few words to describe his perseverant and determined spirit. Whether for his family, his friends, or whoever he was associated, he displayed consumate loyalty and support. He extended himself beyond the call when at times presented with opposition or contention. As an officer of the Hobie Class Association of North America, I can say we will always be indebted to him for, along with a few others, welcomed us at our first visit to the Lake Havasu Yacht Club in 2008, as well as working tirelessly to make our events at Lake Havasu a success to this day. Much, much more could be said that I have personally observed, but, if I obtain a place as high in the hereafter that Hal has arrived at, I would only exclaim, 'I am unworthy'. Thank You from the bottom of my heart for your friendship Hal, and God Bless You!

Though we only had the privelege of knowing Hal for about six years (through the LHYC) we instantly knew that he was a good man and would become a dear friend. His book that he signed for us opened our eyes to what he experienced in Germany during the war. He will be greatly missed by us and all that knew and loved him. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Erika and the family.

Steve and Family,
Please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of Hal (or Opa as we more commonly heard him referred to). Though we had not seen him for some time, I can tell you that we treasured the times that Opa and Oma visted Texas and we were fortunate to particpate. Oh, I can still taste the bread from that special starter that made the trip from Arizona. We will keep you and yours in our hearts and prayers throughout the coming days. God Bless,
Pam, Scott and the Townsend kids of Flower Mound, TX

I have so many fond memories of Hal and all of you. Some of my best times were at your home. One that comes to mind when Hal made this lovely stew and kept on asking if I was enjoying it, yes I it's delicious. He then said have you ever eaten "bear" I said oh no and I don't think I would..he then in his hearty laugh said well you just did. :) oh when I think of Hal I think of his laughter, fun but most of all his love. thank you for all of that...with my sincere sympathy to all of you Erika, Tanja, Iris & Steven & family ...see you someday
