I rarely meet anyone in this world that I respect in the depth of my soul. John was one of the few.
I met him when he came to visit Ashley in Portland, Oregon. Ashley was renting a room in my house and John and Cheryl stayed with us while they visited.
He was such a gentle, loving, and caring man. I have rarely seen a person show so much respect to others, and show so much empathy to, and for everyone.
The love and respect he showed to Ashely and Cheryl was amazing.
I only met him briefly, yet he touched my soul as someone we should all strive to emulate.

Dear John,
What an awesome son-in-law you were. I love you so much and will miss you immensely. You were always so willing to help when we needed something and in such a loving way. I am blessed to have had you in our family for over 36 wonderful years.
When I get to heaven to join you, it will be for forever and we will get to see Jesus and continually thank Him for dying on the cross for our sins. I will miss all our telephone conversations talking about Jesus’ love for us and the Bible. You were such a smart and loving man with a heart of gold.
I’m sure your rewards in heaven are great.
Love never dies,
Elaine

Dearest John,
Thank you so much for the love you shared with my son Matt and grandson Skyler. I will never forget the times you took them along with you and Josh to do fun things. I also remember the time you took me out shooting with the three boys, so I could learn how to protect myself when I was living alone with the boys.
I always thought you were the coolest, most laid back person I’d ever met. You made everyone feel comfortable no matter who they were. You also made it clear in deed how much you loved your family and God. I also remember hearing about you donating time helping with projects at your church. Before you left so suddenly, we messaged each other through Facebook and I was glad to see you back on just so I could say hello. I actually wanted to ask you when it would be convenient for me to stop by to see you and Cheryl,
but I didn’t get the chance, you were gone two days later.
My heart broke when I first heard the news that you left so sudden. I really wanted to get together. At least I had the privilege to post on your precious photos of you and Ashley and her dogs.
You will be deeply missed.
Though we didn’t get together here often, I’m thankful for the hope of the great reunion we all will have one day very soon, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We can all make up for lost time in eternity.
Please give my daughter and sister a hug from me. See you all soon on that great and glorious day.

Dad,
I love you. I am broken without you here. I am trying to stay strong for our family, it's what you would have wanted. I can't wait to give you a huge hug and explore and experience the joys and wonders of Heaven with you. You are my person, and I will forever carry a huge, painful void in my heart in your absence. I wish I could have made you a Grandpa, you would have adored your grandchildren. I promise they will know you well. If we have a son someday, we are naming him after you.
You have taught me so much, especially love. I will do my best to emulate your love in my actions and words for the rest of my life. Your legacy will live on. You had a true heart of gold.
Love you love me, always and forever,
Your daughter Ashley
