Obituary of Dennis K Finley
Please share a memory of Dennis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dennis K. Finley, age 73, was welcomed home into his Lord's arms on January 25, 2021 at Lake Havasu Regional Hospital after battling COVID-19. The family will not be having a memorial service to honor Dennis' wishes. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com. To send a free card go to www.sendoutcards.com/lietzfraze.
Dennis Keith Finley was born May 12, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to Clarence Wilber and Florence (Spencer) Finley, the fourth of eight siblings. In 1967, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Linda Erber, to whom he was a loving husband for 54 years. They have two children Stacey (Paul) Vargo of Portland, Oregon and Corey Finley of Denver, Colorado. He was a proud grandfather to Phoenix and Griffen Vargo with whom he shared his love of cars, U of M Football and adventure of life.
Dennis graduated from Clio High School in 1965, where he won 1st Place in the Michigan H.S. Wrestling Tournament that same year. After graduation, he began his career at General Motors from where he retired after 40+ years. Dennis started in Skilled Trades in Tool and Dye and then found his calling as a Committee Man at the Fisher Body Plant in Flint. While advancing his career, Dennis went back to school and completed his MBA in 2000, graduating with Honors from the University of Michigan. Once retired, he enjoyed spending his summers with his grandchildren in Oregon and wintering in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Always the child at heart, anyone of every age loved Dennis. He played a special part in many lives from his numerous nieces and nephews, youth group kids, co-workers and friends he met along the way in his travels during retirement. Dennis was always one to be willing to lend a helping hand, offer an ear to listen or give wise consul and was never quick to judge. Anyone who met him felt they had been friends for life. He is described as a "Great Man" by many.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and his mother, Florence. He is survived by his above mention wife, Linda, his two children, Stacey (Paul) Vargo and Corey Finley, and his two grandchildren, Phoenix Vargo and Griffen Vargo. Dennis is survived by his siblings: Gary (Diane) Finley, Janice Sommerville, Tom Finley, Joyce (John) Soldan, L. Terrence (Markus) Finley, Tammy (Keith) Hooks, Greg (Kelly) Finley.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Dennis' name be made to Ronald McDonald's House.
