Obituary of Donald Leroy Dreager

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald Leroy Dreager Jan. 5, 1929 - April 30, 2020 Donald Dreager, 91, passed away peacefully at his home, after battling Alzheimer’s, surrounded by his loved ones. Donald grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska, joining the Navy out of High School. It was while in the Navy that he met the love of his life, Margaret. Although their introduction was tenuous, as a mail clerk on the ship, Donald had the unfortunate duty of informing Margaret that her fiancée had passed away. This began a pen-pal relationship and upon his return to the states their courtship began. Don could do anything. He built his own retirement home and worked on his own cars. He never left anyone stranded on the side of the road. Don loved the outdoors, spending 36 years in retirement after 25 years of teaching High School mathematics and traveling with his wife, Margaret. As a school teacher he spent all of his summers in Rock Creek, Utah, where he would tend bar and act as caretaker Don and Margaret were within 3 weeks of their 67th anniversary. Donald taught all of his children to fish, camp and enjoy the outdoors and also passed that on to his 8 grandsons as well. He spent his Christmas and Easter breaks vacationing on the shores of Lake Havasu. Don is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Marta Dreager, Monica Dreager and Diana (Gregor) Russell and son, Martin (Paula) Dreager. Don has eight grandsons, Jason (Julia) Sawyer, Ian Sawyer, Anthony Guarnieri, Robert Guarnieri, Bryce Dreager and Max Dreager. He also had 2 great granddaughters, Analysa Sanchez and Harper Sawyer. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to Don’s family at www.lietz.frazefuneralhome.com.
