Obituary of Mary Jo Jewett
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Jo Jewett passed away on November 9, 2017. She was born April 19, 1935 and grew up in San Bernardino, California. She married William Joseph Delasantos and they had her only child, Daniel Stewart Delasantos. They divorced in 1962 and she met Robert "Bob" Charles Jewett (BJ) in 1964; the two married New Year's Eve 1969. Bob had 3 children of his own, Danna, Rolly, and Rob (Dino) whom she welcomed into her life with open arms.
She was loved by her family and friends and was a guiding light in many of our lives. She was outspoken on topics that concerned her and always made you laugh with old school anecdotes when the situation called for it.
She was an accomplished Hula Dancer and performed on stage for audiences all over Southern California. She was an operator and receptionist and worked for Precision Sheet Metal and later Collins Foods where she would spend many memorable moments talking to famed franchise owner Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The family spent every possible moment on the Colorado River beginning in 1964 and moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1971; they purchased a home, became pioneers of Havasu and truly lived happily ever after. Bob was the love of her life and the two spent many years together enjoying all aspects of the town's social life, pleasure of their pontoon boat and their dune buggy. Bob passed away in 1989 and Mary Jo remained in the family home until the day she passed away.
She is survived by her sons; Dan Delasantos, Rob Jewett; grandchildren, Kim Webb, Kimo Delasantos, Clark Jewett, Josh Adams, Crystal Jewett, Grace Jackson, Manuel Medeiros; great-grandchildren, Hannah Webb, Hunter Webb, Coby Harding, Kyler Harding, Kaydence Madeiros, and Carson Madeiro.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 2, 2017.
