CONDOLENCES:
I did not personally know Mrs. Jewett however, I have experienced the loss of loved ones. It is times like these that being reminded of God's promises regarding death and the resurrection provide comfort.
Death was not God’s purpose for mankind and his purpose has not changed. God’s word says 'death is an enemy' and promises it will be 'brought to nothing'. (1Corinthians 15:26) Psalm 34:18 says, "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." So, God does care about our pain and grief so much so that he guarantees the restoration of life or as one definition says, "the state of one risen from the dead".
As you know, Jesus not only spoke of the coming resurrection (John 5:21, 28, 29), he himself was resurrected by his Father and performed many miracles including resurrections. So, all resurrections took place here on earth giving us fore-gleams of what is to come.
God's word assures us that the grief and sorrow we experience is temporary (Revelation 21:4) because God is a promise keeper and we will have the prospect of seeing our loved ones again! (Acts 24:15) This truth not only provides hope for the future but serves to comfort us even now.
As you cherish the many fond of memories of Mrs. Jewett may God continue to bless your family and friends in the coming days.........
