Obituary of Dixie Gael Velner
Please share a memory of Dixie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dixie Gael Velner, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on November 7, 2017. She was born on October 14, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to her parents, Gael and Maxine Rogers. She was 75 years of age.
Dixie attended Dorsey High School. Dixie was 13 years old when she met a wonderful young man named James "Jim" Velner. During the next couple of years, their courtship was wonderful and they realized that it really was love at first sight and on July 11, 1959 in Los Angeles, California, they were united in holy matrimony.
Dixie's love of helping others turned into a lifelong career for her as she worked at Little Company of Mary, Palmdale Hospital, Antelope Valley Hospital, and finally Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Dixie was an avid reader, loved playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved having her friends over to hang out and relax poolside. In her younger years she really enjoyed square dancing with Jim.
Her family will always remember her famous saying,"First comes laughter, then comes tears."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gael and Maxine Rogers and Esther Rogers, and sister, Carol Rodriguez.
