I did not personally know Mr. Bottaro however, I have experienced the loss of a loved one. So, it is with heartfelt sympathy that I share God's guarantee regarding death and the resurrection.
Psalm 34:18 says, "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." Death was not God’s purpose for mankind and his purpose has not changed. The Bible assures us that God does care about our pain and grief; so much so that He says 'death is an enemy' and promises it will be 'brought to nothing'. (1Corinthians 15:26)
He guarantees the restoration of life or as one definition says, "the state of one risen from the dead". Jesus himself spoke of the resurrection. (John 5:21, 28, 29) As you know he was resurrected by his Father and performed many miracles including resurrections. So, starting with Jesus, all resurrections took place here on earth.
God's word assures us that the grief and sorrow we experience is temporary (Revelation 21:4) because God is a promise keeper and we will have the prospect of seeing our loved ones again! (Acts 24:15) This truth not only provides hope for the future but comforts us even now.
