Ronald Jerome Pitts, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, August 30th 2017 at Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center. He was born in Los Angeles, California to Charles and Geraldine (Simmer) Pitts and was the oldest of five children.
He lived in Hawthorne, California with his family for most of his life and recently retired to Lake Havasu, Arizona with his wife. He worked as a project manufacturing engineer at Northrop Grumman from 1966 until he retired in 2010. For over forty years he was a member of the drag boat racing community as a driver and owner. His boat "Sunday Showdown" won numerous championships with the National Jet Boat Association, the International Hot Boat Association, and the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series.
He had many friends, was loved by all and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bob.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Zinkan-Pitts; his five children Ronnie, Bobby, David and his wife Marlene, Jimmy, and Ashley; his step children, Michael and Phillip and his wife Rayna; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Mark, Mary Kay, and Suzanne.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
