God called our precious angel, Laura Smith, home on July 18, 2016 at 10:14 a.m. She is now at rest after a courageous fight with a lung disease. Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was the anchor of the family. Laura was a loyal sister and friend, who never wavered on her beliefs or principles. Laura Lynn Smith was born to Arlen and Diane Klostermeier in La Mesa, California on May 15, 1962. She had an older brother Don Klostermeier, older sister Nancy Labas, and younger sister Tina Whitehouse. The family enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors, including jeeping in the desert and boating on Lake Alamo and Lake Havasu. After moving to Lake Havasu City in 1998, Laura's other activities included giving back to the community through her service on the Planning and Zoning Commission, serving as its Chairman for 2 years. She served on a number of committees for the betterment of Lake Havasu City, ranging from city improvements, zoning, education, and tourism. Laura also established a perpetual scholarship fund for the MCC nursing program in honor of her sister, Nancy.
