Obituary of John D. Munnell

John Dixon Munnell John D. Munnell, 85, passed away on July 24, 2014. John was born to the late Vera and John Munnell on September 26, 1929 in Los Angeles, California. John and his wife Donna moved to Lake Havasu City in 1989. They were married for 64 years before Donna's passing in August, 2013. John, also known as "Uncle Grump," was an engineer for the Arcadia Fire Department for 34 years. He worked with the U. S. Forrest Fire Service and was a Boy Scout leader with his boys. He also appeared in some movie productions and music videos as well. John was a fan and admirer of old fire trucks. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping and playing cards with friends. He was a member of both the Lake Havasu City Elks and Arcadia Elks Lodges. John is survived by his sons, Michael Munnell, of Riverside, CA and Sean Munnell, of El Monte, CA and daughter, Cheryl Brodie, of Lake Havasu City, AZ. John also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren. Services for John will take place at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31, 2014. Visitation starts at 9:00AM with services at 10:00AM with graveside service immediately following. Chaplin, Jimmy Ortega will be officiating. Military honors will be rendered by VFW Post #9401 and American Legion Post #81. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
