In 2003, I went through a scary time when I was diagnosed with cancer. I had to undergo six weeks of radiation at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. I lived in Lake Havasu City, and would have to commute to Scottsdale during the week for treatment and be home only on the weekends. After Dodie told her mom about my situation, Barbara generously offered to let me stay with her each week during treatment. Barbara had not even met me prior to this, so I was even more touched by her kindness. She was a huge support to me during that six weeks. One day I told her how much I appreciated her helping me, especially since I had been a complete stranger to her. She said, "Well, what are we in this world for, if not to help each other?"
I've been cancer-free ever since and will never forget Barbara. I feel like she was a big part of my recovery.
I know how hard it is to lose your mom. I wish you peace and many beautiful memories. She's with God now, and will always be with you in your hearts.

The Hamich family was I believe one the first families my family knew in 1971. I spend a lot of time with Dodie and Monica at their home. We had lots of memorable times and Mrs. Hamich, Barbara, was a very loving Mom. Family first ... God bless.

Mrs. Hamich was one of the staples of my upbringing in Lake Havasu! When we had a classroom party, she was a "room-mother". When we had a cheerleading/pom trip, she always volunteered to drive! When Dodo and Monica had parties - she was always right there visiting, and just being a wonderful mom. Her presence in this world is very far-reaching, and goes to the very core of most of us who were raised in Lake Havasu City!
