Obituary of Michael Jonathan Hiatt
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael Jonathan Hiatt, 70, of Dolan Springs passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home. He was born May 1, 1945, in Redmond, Oregon, the son of Charles A. and Dorothy J. Hiatt.
The family moved to California in 1957 where Jon graduated from Washington High School in Fremont, California. He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and served as a medic. He worked as a carpenter and roofer before finally following his passion for gold mining. Jon would say "I don't have gold fever, I have the disease!" While mining in Montana, he helped build a log home for his brother, Cary.
Jon met and married Cleo, the love of his life and the two of them moved to Dolan Springs where he has spent the past 15 years.
Jon loved being in the mountains, hunting, fishing and looking for rocks. He had many friends and would help anyone in need. Jon loved to tell stories and could always make people laugh.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Cleo. Jon is survived by his sister Charlene Laymon (AJ) of San Jose California, his brother Cary (Linda) of Darby, Montana, nieces and nephews Kristin Laymon, Paisley Dishman, Rhoan Laymon, Dave Hiatt and Sandy Offill.
Jon's family is grateful to his many friends in Dolan Spring and thanks them for being such a big part of Jon's life.
