Obituary of John Edward Lacey

John Edward Lacey passed away in Lake Havasu City, AZ on July 10, 2015. He was 78 years old. "Jack" was born to Marie Jenkins and Henry Glenn Lacey in Elmira, New York on October 20, 1936. After graduating from Elmira Catholic High School, Jack served six years in the United States Air Force. He then attended Los Angeles Community College wherein he received a degree in Fire Science. He spent the majority of his working career following his passion as a firefighter. He worked for South Gate City Fire Department from 1962 to 1975 and for Los Angeles County Fire Department from 1975 to 1991. He wed the love of his life, Sandra, in 1958. Together they enjoyed almost 57 years together. They raised two sons, Steven and Edward. After Jack retired, they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1993. Jack enjoyed playing on the water, boating, water skiing, and snow skiing. He also enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV. He was an outdoorsman, living life to the fullest. His most recent passion was photography and in particular photographing race cars. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Jack held memberships with the Firefighters Union local 1014, American Legion and the Elks. Jack will be missed by so many. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lacey of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons, Steven Lacey of Madison, MS and Edward Lacey of Meridian, ID; sister, Joan Hatch of Chittenango, NY; grandchildren, Vanessa, Steven Jr., Ryann, Erin, Nolan, Destiny and Cameron; great-grandchild, Shaun. Services for Jack will commence on Friday July 17, 2015 at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, at 3:00PM. Chaplain Kathy Kenney will say a few kind words.
