PHILIP ARTHUR HAUAN Philip Arthur Hauan passed away November 18, 2013 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 85. He was born July 31, 1928 in Forest City, IA to Arthur I. and Thelma (Austin) Hauan. Philip enlisted in the Army right after graduating high school in 1946 and served until being Honorably Discharged in 1949. During his service he served in the Finance Department of the United States Army spent 26 months in Japan with Headquarters 8th Army Budget & Accounts Division and Attained rank of Staff Sergeant. He met and married the love of his life Virginia Lou Norstrud on June 4, 1950. Philip attended Drake University and received his Bachelor of Education Degree in music in 1952 and the summer of 1954 he went to the University of Colorado and graduated in work administration. He worked as a High School Band Director from 1952 through 1958. He changed his career working as an office manager for Well's Blue Bunny. He then became office manager at NIPCO and was promoted to General Manager & Executive Vice-President. He retired from NIPCO after 39 years. He served as Mayor of Le Mars for 4 years. Philip is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia Hauan of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son James P. Hauan (Katherine) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughters Cheryl L. Binding of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Nancy R. Kennon (Curtis) of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on November 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Price officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Philip's name to Mount Olive Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2170 Havasupai Blvd, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 or Hospice of Havasu, 365 S. Lake Havasu Avenue P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
