To the Family of Philip Hauan,
I was saddened to hear of Mr. Hauan's passing. Many of us from the class of 1962 celebrated our 50th reunion in LeMars. Our wonderful band and past band directors were very much a happy topic among my classmates.
I stopped to see Mr. Hauan several times over the years when I was back in LeMars, as he lived just down the street from my mother (Verna Athens).
He was one of my favorite band leaders and made a lasting impression on me in my teenage years.
My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Laura Hagar Hall
I would have loved to have been at the funeral but I had a wedding at 5:30 in Phoenix.
My condolences to the family.

To the Hauan Family,
I offer sincere sympathy to you on your loss. Mr Hauan was the band director when I started to play in Le Mars. I was privileged to play under his baton while I was a member of the local community band. As time passed, I majored in music education and became a band director....just retired three years ago. Mr. Hauan was a kind man and a skilled band leader. He touched many lives in a very positive way. I believe that this is a legacy worth leaving. I hope that the family members are able to gain some strength and comfort knowing how much Mr. Hauan was held in high regard.

I'm saddened to hear of Phil's passing. He was a long time friend who made a point to stop and see me at the radio station in Le Mars when he came back to town, Larry V Schmitz
