Met Jim at the SDSO Academy in early '78...being a NCO in the CA National Guard, I was impressed with Jim being an Officer & serving in Nam...I felt he had the right stuff for being a Sheriff as he was very adapt at all phases of our Academy & his no-nonsense sense of humor was appreciated by us all, including the staff...after graduation, our Academy Class had several picnics over the years & unfortunately that's the last time I saw Jimmie...but, did keep track of his activities thru SDSO Buddy Kim Quaco...I wish I had known he was residing in Lake Havasu City as I retired out there & currently spend winters there...my condolences to the Ditslear extended family...I have attached a pic I took of Jim while in the Academy...RIP my brother...you did make a difference...:-( Doug Francoise Retired: Carlsbad PD

I spent many night shifts working with JD at the Sheriff's Office Lemon Grove Station and in the jail. He was a great partner, honest man and a reliable hand. Jimmy could be counted on to give it to you straight and with no baloney. He was an old school deputy sheriff.... the kind we need now more than ever but that, sadly, are fading out.
