Obituary of Patrick Michael Foley

Please share a memory of Patrick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patrick M. Foley passed peacefully at home with his loving family on Tuesday, 19 Jan 2016. Pat was born to Patrick Foley of County Wexford, Ireland and Jeanne LaPointe of Chicago on 18 Aug 1942 in Oak Park, Illinois as the elder brother to sister Mary Ann Foley/Gabbard. The Foley family moved to Kingman in 1960 where Pat met and fell in love with his wife of 50 years, Corliss Markee. He is survived by Corliss, their three sons, Patrick, Jim and Kevin, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pat was drafted into the Army and sent to serve in Vietnam just 5 days after he and Corliss were married in 1965. He served honorably, made some lifelong friends, learned a lot about life and set the proud example for each of his 3 son's Navy service. Making their lifelong home in Kingman and raising their family here meant being an active part of the community so Pat and Corliss dedicated themselves tirelessly to the Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts, Kingman Dolphin Swim Team, Youth soccer, KHS marching band and many other community causes. In turn, they touched the lives of many of Kingman's youth that enjoyed those community groups and clubs. Pat was known for his many interests and talents. He was an avid photographer, a journeyman botanist, a bee keeper, a life member of the Kingman Elks Lodge and was awarded the Al Merito award in 2014 by the Arizona Historical Society for his many contributions in the preservation and presentation of local history. Pat retired from the Edison Mohave Generating Station in Laughlin NV in 1996 and spent his retirement years traveling, visiting his sons and volunteering his time and energy for 18 years in support of his community and passion for history at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts. Pat brought many innovative ideas which modernized the exhibits and artifact collection cataloging and he brought a sense of teamwork and efficiency to the museum that inspired many to volunteer and his contribution will be sorely missed. Special thanks to the many loved ones, friends, local businesses and services that helped our Family through this difficult journey. The prayers, support and strength of our friends and community brought comfort in this difficult time. To the entire KRMC staff, the Oncology department, Home Health and Hospice professionals and services that helped make his time valuable and comfortable, the Foley Family is eternally grateful. Messages of condolence may be sent to Lietz-Fraze funeral home at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mohave Museum of History and Arts in Kingman, AZ. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
