WARREN MELVIN GORTON
Warren Melvin Gorton passed away on January 25, 2014 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 83. He was born in Norwalk, CA on July 6, 1930 to Arthur and Esther (Weyandt) Gorton.
Warren worked as a general contractor and painting contractor moving to Lake Havasu City 7 years ago. He was a proud veteran of the US Naval Air Reserves during the Korean War. He was a Charter Member of the Elks for 57 years, and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
In the late 40's to early 50's Warren built race engines and drove race cars attempting to brake land speed records with Mickey Thompson on the Bonneville salt flats. Warren was also a life long avid fisherman.
Warren is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Roberta Gorton of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son Scott Gorton of Palmdale, CA; daughters Debbie Blackwell of Mesa, AZ, Darice Pierce of Los Angeles, CA and Shireen Gorton of San Diego, CA; step-daughters Laura Ausem of San Diego, CA, Rachel Black of Las Vegas, NV and Taryn Fleisch of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sister Arleen Tracey of Norwalk, CA; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Warren's identical twin brother Wilber preceded him in death in October 2013.
