Obituary of Kenneth T. Wynn

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth T. Wynn was born December 23, 1932 in Tahoka, Texas. He was the youngest child of Nellie and Carroll Wynn with an older brother, Weldon. He moved to San Diego, California with his family during World War II and his father worked at a defense plant. After the war they returned to Morton, Texas where his mother and dad owned a cotton farm and his dad farmed. He attended Neilly Ward Elementary School and attended high school and graduated from Morton, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and did his basic training at Lackland AFB is San Antonio. He was then stationed in Lorado, TX before going to Thule, Greenland for a year during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged at F.E. Warren AFB after four years of active duty. Ken worked at the Base as a civilian electrician after his discharge from the Air Force. He became a professional firefighter on May 19, 1959. He rose through the ranks and became Fire Chief and held that position until his retirement. Ken married Wilma Hixenbaugh on August 26, 1956 in Cheyenne and they were married fifty-nine years. After their retirement they were "snowbirds" and purchased a home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and spent the winter months there with their daughter Kara, son-in-law, Bill and grandchildren, Brek and Rhegan. Ken loved sports and played softball, basketball and football in high school and later basketball in the City and Church Leagues. He managed several Little League baseball teams when Kyle was playing ball. Those years were some of the best. As many of you know Ken was a patriotic, hard-working man of his word. He always worked an extra job installing sprinkler systems working for Cheyenne Tent and Awning, Burke Moving and Storage, etc. He also worked for Cheyenne Parks and Recreation as the foreman of Holiday Park after his retirement from the fire department. For a number of years he worked for the Wyoming State Legislature, House of Representatives as the upstairs doorman where he made many friends and acquaintances. He was a charter member of Meadowbrooke Baptist Church in Cheyenne and regularly attended Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Havasu until his health prevented it. It is bittersweet that we say goodbye, though now he is in a better place with his Lord Jesus Christ, in peace and celebration for eternity. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Nellie and Carroll Wynn. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Wynn; brother, Weldon of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Kyle and grandchild, Elijah and daughter, Kara Chambers (Bill) and grandchildren, Brek and Rhegan and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers you may donate to a Dementia/Alzheimer's charity or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 6th, at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory. Thoughts and condolences may be sent to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
