Gustav Robert Scherer, Jr passed away March 23, 2012, in Lake Havasu City with his family & friends at his side at the age of 70. He was born July 12, 1941.
Gus worked in San Francisco for over 40 years and loved his job as a stockbroker. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving two tours to Vietnam as Navigator of the USS Hopewell. He was a member of the Eagles and VFW. Gus enjoyed traveling in his motor home, boating, watching TV and sports, going to 49er games and tailgating. His love was to help coach all his children through their sports including being an avid fan of girls' softball and going to his son's musical performances. After moving to Lake Havasu in 2005, his favorite hang out was "Big John's Steak & Pub" and couldn't wait until his Winter Friends were here including his father-in-law, Walter Reiman (Ernestine). He was also known for his boisterous laughter.
Gus is survived by his beloved wife, best friend and sole mate of 28 years, Sandee, of Lake Havasu City, sons, Gus (Annie) of Novato, CA; Matthew of Springfield, MO; daughters, Kimberly Hale (Mark) of Petaluma, CA; Heather Anderson of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren. Brother, Joseph Scherer (Cathy) Guilford, CT; sisters, Clare Crowell, Norwell, MA; and Liddy Wilford (Kim) of Wallingford, CT Brother-in-law, Ken Reiman of San Francisco, CA and sister-in-law Nancy Gasser (Dave) of Clayton, ID including numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav & Norma Scherer.
Per Gus' wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, P.O. Box 1191, Kingman, AZ 86402-1191 or Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
