Leslie Gordon Hughes was born on May 22, 1947, in Pasadena, CA. He was 68 years old when he passed on December 25, 2015. Les graduated from Fontana High School in 1965. He joined the US Navy and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Les worked as a Leadman Warehouseman at Sunkist Grower, Inc. from 1970-1978. In June of 1978, Les moved to Bullhead City, AZ to work at Southern California Edison where he worked for the next 18 years as a Boiler ad Condenser Mechanic. Leslie received many awards during his 18 years of work, including Employee of the Month (several times), the 110% Club, and many outstanding performance awards. He successfully improved the Soot Blower System by inventing the 5-way valve which was used at every Southern California Edison Power Plant. Les has been happily retired since October 14, 1996. He was a wonderful husband, great father, proud grandfather, lapwalker at Centennial Pool, cat friend and doorman, a faithful friend to many, and a man that could fix anything and everything.
Les was preceded by his father Harold Calvert Hughes and mother Frances Willette Hughes. He was also preceded by his brother Harold Hughes Jr. (Buddy).
Leslie was survived by his wife Jenny Hughes and 3 children Matt Hughes, Sheila Turner and youngest son Jasper Hensen. Les had 5 beautiful grandchildren: Anthony Turner, Tyler Turner, Matacin Hughes, Thomas Swaenepoel, and Kelsey Swaenepoel. He was also survived by his sister Betty Valdez and 3 son and daughter-in-laws: Norm Turner, Cindy Hughes, and Jessica Hensen. Les also had many Nieces and Nephews that loved him very much.
