JAMES (JIM) LESLIE MARTIN
James (Jim) Leslie Martin went to his reward on July 25, 2012 after a very short illness. He was born in Poulsbo, Washington on April 19, 1935. He grew up in San Diego, worked until retirement for teamsters. Upon retirement he moved to Lake Havasu.
Jim served his Country with the 12th Marine Corps during the Korea War and after 4 years transferred to Reserves until 1960.
Jim made his mark here in Havasu as an all-around volunteer in various works of charity. He belonged to VFW, was a Knight of Columbus (4th degree), belonged to the American Legion. Jim was a man who did not need to be asked to do-just saw the need and did it. He volunteered in the Soup Kitchen of Our Lady of the Lake and for special needs children.
Jim will be greatly missed by his many friends for his generosity, good humor and friendliness. His faith made him a strong man. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife, Marion. He is survived by his sister Jacqueline Metzinger (Jackie) and very good friend and companion Kathy Clubs.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake with a Reception following the Mass.
Any Memorial contributions can be made to the Soup Kitchen of Our Lady of the Lake or the Knights of Columbus.
