Long time resident James Douglas Stahl passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2012 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 79. Jim, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on May 28, 1933 in L'Anse, Michigan to Douglas and Bernadette (Clement) Bendry. Following graduation from high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged holding the rank of sergeant following 3 years of service. He then went to work in public safety as a police officer and firefighter before relocating to Lake Havasu City in 1972 where he was a business owner and later an inspector for the Lake Havasu City Engineering Depertment. Among his many hobbies were woodworking, blacksmithing, fishing and hunting. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Louise of Lake Havasu City, sons James "Chip" Stahl and his wife Jamee of Lake Havasu City, Frank Stahl and his wife Lori of Lake Havasu City, Michael Stahl and his wife Andree of Mesa, AZ., and Charles Stahl and his wife Wendy of Needles, CA., daughters Dorthe "Dotti" Dugan and her husband Bo of Santan Valley, AZ. and Roxanne Zimmer and her husband Bob of Flagstaff, AZ., sister Mary Ann Stahl of Deerfield Beach, FL., 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A Scripture service will be held on Saturday August 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home with Deacon Tom Coe officiating. Military honors will follow conducted by the Lake Havasu Detatchment #757 of the Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to St. Jude Childrens Hospital through the St. Jude Tribute Program P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, Tn. 38148-0142.
