Obituary of Jerry Hesse
Please share a memory of Jerry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In loving memory of Jerome “Jerry” Hesse, who passed away on January 18, 2024, in his home, surrounded by family and close friends. Jerry was born on January 26, 1935, in Beach, North Dakota.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Helga and Herbert Hesse, stepfather Martin Thoreson, and brothers Delton and Myron Hesse. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Erma Hesse, his brother Vaughn, and his children, Carol Hesse, Michael Hesse, and Susan (Mike) Weber. Also surviving are granddaughters Amanda, Brittney, and Hailey, and great-grandchildren Emma, Allyvia, and Adrie.
Jerry proudly served his country in the Army from April 1957 through April 1959. Jerry met Erma while she was attending nursing training in Valley City, North Dakota. They settled with their family in Bozeman, MT in 1966, at which point Jerry began his career with Northwest Airlines. He dedicated 28 years to working at Gallatin Field Airport, a period of time and commitment that is remembered with gratitude and camaraderie. Jerry spent his downtime cooking, camping, boating, playing pool, exploring Montana, skiing, and spending cherished time with his family and friends. Jerry was happiest when he was in the kitchen…although not all his concoctions remained in the pan. The ceiling, cupboards, and the front of his apron were not immune to his meal preparation. His love was best expressed via providing his loved ones with a home-cooked meal.
Jerry will be cremated and laid to rest at Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
