Carol Van Hulzen
Feb 2, 1943 - Dec 29, 2023
Carol Jean Mollema Van Hulzen, 80, went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 29, 2023. She was a beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who deeply loved her family, friends, and the Lord. Carol was born on February 2, 1943, to Cornelius and Alice Mollema. She grew up in the quaint town of Leota, Minnesota with sisters Mary Lawrence and Rozella (Zel) Teague.
At the very young age of 17 she married the love of her life, Harvey John Van Hulzen. Harvey and Carol had a devoted marriage of 48 years filled with faith, love, and adventure. For several years, Harvey and Carol ran a successful business together, Van Hulzen Brothers Trucking, in Bellflower, California where they opened their hearts and home to truckers, friends, or anyone in need.
Carol was always a keen listener, with wise advice, who acted as a mother to all. Her greatest pride was being the center figure in the lives of her 3 daughters, Holly Van Hulzen (Hitchins), Heidi Van Hulzen, and Hope Van Hulzen (Rico). From sewing Halloween costumes & matching outfits for their first days of school to staying up past bedtime doing puzzles. Carol loved spending every minute she could with her girls.
By 1999, Carol had two beautiful granddaughters, Brooke and Beth Hitchins. There was no better job for Carol than that of being a grandma. Harvey and Carol’s abundant love for their grandbabies later brought them out to Lake Havasu City, Arizona where they enjoyed the rest of their retirement on the lake or under the warm desert sun. Carol’s legacy will continue to shine in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She had an anecdote for everything, and she would make everyone laugh.
Her kindness, love, warmth, and devotion to her family will never be forgotten. We praise God for His faithfulness and rejoice that she is now resting in heavenly peace and reunited with her beloved husband. Life will not be the same without you Mom, we will miss you very much and all your sayings will live on within us.
– Love, your girls❤️
