Quiet but mighty soul. Mighty with one-liners; mighty with history; mighty with patience; mighty with blue dyed eggs; mighty with pop culture; mighty with karaoke; and most of all mighty being Mike. My most fondest memory was Maui. We had about 8 people traveling with us, which required we take two rental cars. One of the days visiting, we had planned a Road to Hana trip. For any one that’s been, you know it’s a 6 hour journey round trip, filled with twists and turns and one way roads. Somehow, Mike had the delightful pleasure of taking his 3 nieces in one of the rental cars, and did we ever keep him entertained. We filled the car with trivia, learning that Mike knew GTL stood for Gym Tan Laundry, and singing our made up song “The Rainbow Tree”. It was on that adventure that I realized Mike carried this endearing spirit with him. Who else would drive with 3 teenagers in a 6 hour car ride and endure our kookiness. Only Mike. You were truly vibrant and never let any of us down. You will always be missed and loved. Go pat Grandmas hair for me and paint a blue egg with all our missed humans up there in Heaven. Love you.

Dearest Mike,
My heart aches when I think about life without you but I hold onto the fond memories I shared with you.
You have been such an integral part of our lives impacting everyone in our family. You were the calming spirit that settled life’s chaos with words of encouragement.
I remember when you got lost and the motorcycle cop gave you hot chocolate until you were reunited with mom. I remember your beloved dog “Bow Wow” and how you took him everywhere you went. I remember you building me a fire inside a tent and removing the backseat of your car for a bed when I complained how cold I was on our camping trip. I remember you letting John, Macall, and I stay in a trailer in your driveway when we first moved to Phoenix. I remember you falling into the mighty Truckee River trying to keep your canoe off the shore. I remember you trying to teach my kids to dive and you accidentally fell into the swimming pool fully clothed. I remember you losing your wallet while we were hiking in Yosemite. I remember you changing a flat tire on the boat trailer on our way to Lake Powell. I remember all the boating adventures and boating mishaps, and John requesting your assistance. I remember the times you spent with my kids, teaching them how to drive in the high school parking lot because you had the patience of a saint. I remember you completed all of your Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve every year. I remember your karaoke debut on the houseboat and all the many activities Macall and Mallory made you do that were definitely out of your comfort zone. I remember you quizzing the kids on trivia during our long drives. I remember you attending James’ many sports activities when you were visiting. I remember you driving the girls on the Road to Hana and having to listen to them make up words to The Rainbow Tree song. I remember you engineering our annual potato drop on New Year’s Eve to make sure the potato dropped perfectly on count down.
I remember the crazy hours you worked and never complained. I remember your patience, your kindness, your goodness and how you lived your life with grace.
I remember you Mike and I will miss you terribly.
Love,
Mar
