Philip Gregory Blakesly, known to family and friends as Greg, passed away on November 11, 2023, in the comfort of his own home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was 78 years old.
Greg was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 16, 1945, to his father, Philip Beach Blakesly and mother, Lee Eastman. Greg’s father, Philip, was a professor at Connecticut Central State University. Greg attended the University where his dad worked. He was in the class of 1965. While attending a Fraternity and Sorority party, he met his future wife, Janice Ruth O’Meara. Greg and Jan connected rather quickly. She helped Greg with most of his academics.
They then married on August 17, 1968, surrounded by their friends and dearest family. They both raised their two sons, Scott Blakesly and Brendan Blakesly (Channon).
Greg, Jan, and their two sons moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1974. There, Greg owned and operated Blakesly Painting and Sandblasting Company for 34 years.
Greg enjoyed taking the kids to their cabin in the Hualapai Mountains during the summers, they would take some friends and their bikes and hang out. Greg was always working, adding rooms to their cabin. He really enjoyed working with his hands and building things. He later would travel to Flagstaff in the Summers and spend time with his eldest son Scott.
Greg also enjoyed entertaining with his magic tricks, he loved buying and selling cars, and racing cars when he lived in Connecticut.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Lee.
He is survived by his wife; Janice Ruth Blakesly of 55 years, children; Scott Blakesly and Brendan Blakesly, his daughter-in-law, Channon, and two granddaughters; Kylie and Lily.
He will be forever missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
