Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Koontz

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With a heart full of love and a spirit filled with grace, Mary Elizabeth Koontz is writing this message from a different place. Born on January 28, 1944, into the arms of her beloved parents, William and Eulalia Volz, I was blessed to embark on a life journey that was filled with love, laughter, and resilience. I departed this world on July 22, 2023, leaving behind beautiful memories and a life well-lived. As a child, I grew up in the scenic town of Golden, Colorado before moving to Baldwin Park, California at the age of 15. In 1975, I settled in Alta Loma, California with my devoted husband, Gary Koontz, whom I married on July 13, 1963. We later moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where we spent our retirement years. My professional life was dedicated to Time Warner and H&R Block, where I served as an Office Manager, but it was my personal life that truly defined me. I was blessed with a deep love for family and cherished moments spent with them. I was a mother to Aaron Koontz, Josh Koontz, and Teresa Bock, and a sister to William Jr, Jan Oller, and Susan Zimmermann. I held a special place in my heart for watching my grandchildren play sports. My hobbies included bowling, playing cards, and caring for animals. I also had a passion for sightseeing and in my younger years, I loved traveling, camping, and fishing with my grandparents. As the saying goes, "Family is not an important thing. It's everything." - Michael J. Fox. My life journey was filled with joy, challenges, triumphs, and lessons. The love I had for my husband, Gary Koontz, was a constant guiding force in my life until his death. I now join him, and my parents, William and Eulalia Volz, in eternal rest. As we gather for my Visitation on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. and then for my Graveside Service on Monday August 28, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, 1698 Deer Run Drive, Lake Havasu City, let's celebrate a life lived with love, purpose, and joy. After all, it's the love and laughter we share that keep our loved ones alive in our hearts. As Helen Keller once said, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." And so, I remain a part of you all.
