Obituary of Alexis Jean Latham

Alexis (Lex) Jean Latham, 73, died peacefully, Friday, July 28, 2023, in Kingman, Arizona.
She was born in Waco, Texas on January 23, 1950. She was one of six children born to the late Jean H. Hodges.
She moved from Aurora, Illinois in 1977 to Raeford, NC to be close to her mother, Jean Hodges and receive treatment for Breast Cancer at UNC Chapel Hill. She fell in love with North Carolina and decided to call Southern Pines, NC home. She worked as a Landscape Architect and Tax Accountant. Upon her retirement she moved to York, PA to be with close friend, Karen Steelman.
Alexis loved to entertain, bartend, garden, listen to live music, fish, work puzzles, travel, and sports cars, especially her TR6 convertible, which she said made her feel free. She also enjoyed spending time at the North Carolina coast and Smokey Mountains. She believed in hard work, loved her family, friends, and Jesus. She was fiercely independent, an adventurer and lived her life the way she wanted to.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Ben and Sue Hardin and paternal grandparents Clyde and Marian Hicks, her father Clyde Hicks, brothers Michael Hicks and Benton Hodges.
She is survived by her only child, Michael R. Latham and wife Kristine of Spring Branch, Texas, brother Dellus Hodges, sisters Anna Smith and Janet Lee, Nephews Adam Hicks (her favorite person), Alex and Elliott Smith, Jonah and Jordan Hodges and nieces Carly Smith and Jenna Hodges. Three Grandchildren, Alec, Jessica and James Latham, and delighted to have recently met her new great-granddaughter, Finlee Latham.
Alexis’s family would like to give special thanks to her close friends and housemates, Karen Steelman, Cara Johnson and Shannon Reynolds. Also, Family Care Hospice of Kingman, AZ who provided Alexis with loving care and kindness at the end of her life.
The family will plan a celebration of life for Alexis in the coming months.
