Obituary of Roger L. Echelberger

Roger Echelberger, a devoted family man, a proud veteran and Havasu Pioneer, passed away on June 5th, 2023 at home with his family. He was 86 years old. In 1957 he married Sandra Hurdel. Together they raised 4 children. Van Echelberger (Suzy) Joni Millin (Matt Wanner) Jill Echelberger (Chris Crismon)and Julie Byrnes (Mike) He was a doting Grandfather to seven grandchildren, Melissa Richardson (Ed), Casey Echelberger, Jason Millin (Kim), Luke and Blake Echelberger, Cody Pellaton and Ava Byrnes. Three Great Grandchildren, Steven and Nathan Richardson, and Ryker, as well as many loved extended family members. Roger grew up in Illinois and enlisted in the Air Force in 1956. He was committed to his military service, having completed a tour in Korea in 1959. After his discharge he worked for Beneficial Finance and IBM in Moline, Illinois. In 1971, Roger and Sandra relocated their family to Lake Havasu City after taking a Holly flight. After arriving in Lake Havasu City he began his banking career at The State Bank and worked his way through seven bank buyouts and mergers until his retirement with Wells Fargo Bank in 2002. His family always felt his love, his optimism, and words of inspiration. Roger never passed a Veteran, a dog or a young child without acknowledging them. Roger had a special place in his heart for his beloved Golden Retriever, Ginger (passed) and his two Shih-Tzu’s, Sammie and Maggie, who remained at his side until his last day. He was preceded in death by his Mother Rose, Father Lawrence and his brothers, Robert, Ralph, Dean, Paul, and Keith. At Roger’s request, there will be no services held. We give thanks to Hospice of Havasu for their Support
