Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, Virginia “Ginny” Carol Oman, the loving mother of five children, passed away at the age of 84 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Ginny was born on December 12, 1938, in Milwaukee to Joseph and Josephine Lebrick (Majszak). As a young child, she was close with her grandmother who lived upstairs. Although her grandmother only spoke Polish, Ginny and she got along well, and they loved sharing Vanilla ice cream together. She graduated from West Allis Central High School in 1956. Ginny moved to the Iron Mountain Michigan area in 1975 and was a resident there for forty years. She was a nanny for local families in the 1990s and made fresh bread and pasta at El Capitan Supper Club, before opening Heart-to-Heart, a pet salon, which she owned in downtown Iron Mountain from 1998-2013. Ginny and her younger sister Kathy shared a passion for craft fairs, quilting, and shopping. Ginny was an avid decorator and quilter. Her home in Spread Eagle, WI had an artist's touch, filled with antiques, and quilts she made for every occasion. When it came to decorating, she had a festive heart, changing the decor for the seasons and holidays. Her gardens and patio spaces were something to marvel at. Ginny had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She loved hosting the holidays at her home and bringing her family together for a meal. She was a wonderful storyteller and loved talking about her childhood. All that knew Ginny, knew her love for Scotties. She owned many over the last 30 years, most notably Allie M, Max, and Piper the First. She leaves two Scotties with her daughter Danielle, whom she lived with in Lake Havasu City, AZ after relocating in 2014. Ginny was preceded in death by her dear friend and companion, long-time Iron Mountain resident Paul Carlson, who passed in 2022, her parents, and her ex-husband William Oman. Ginny was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas who passed in 2011, and a great-grandson Kayne in 2006. Ginny is survived by her sister Kathy Lee, 5 children, Bill (Peggy), Mark (Tina), Michelle Allard (Rob), Danielle, and Kurt (Shannon). She is also survived by Grandchildren, Ross, Travis, Ryan, Rachel, Donna, Jake, Paris, Ashly, Tiffany, Brock, Taylor, Mark, Tyler, Jordan, Sierra, Shelby, Amber, Kale, Katelyn, numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ginny wished to have her ashes spread near Sedona, Arizona at a date and time to be determined later.
