Lyla was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. And she was an amazing nurse on top of that! I met Lyla when I was a “baby nurse” and started working at HRMC on the 200 unit. She helped train me and I learned so much from her. The kindest smile, calmest demeanor and the never forgettable classic white dress nursing uniform. And she would do the most thoughtful things for her patients and her friends. On night shift once she brought in this cute little clear glass teapot that had a steeper built in and made all of us a special tea. And when my daughter was born, she handmade a newborn blanket with little lambs that my daughter still uses to this day. I had the opportunity to take care of her earlier this year and while it was bittersweet, it was also my pleasure to be able to give back to her a little of what she had so kindly given to everyone else in her years of service. We got to chat and catch up as it had been several
years since we last saw each other. I will always treasure that time with her and grateful for all she taught me as a nurse. Rest in peace sweet Lyla…you made such an impact and I’ll always remember you. Love you my friend.
