Obituary of Richard Lee Griffitts

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Lee Griffitts passed away on May 1, 2023, the day after his 84th birthday. He was born on April 30, 1939 to Elmer and Silence Griffitts, in Broadwater, Nebraska. Richard moved to Washington, following some college, and met his wife of 50 years, Nita. They were married on November 26, 1972, in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. Richard, along with a friend, ran a Crop Dusting business in Washington. There he flew and instructed for many years. His first love was airplanes, but his family was a solid tie. He loved being in the air, or at the airport, but he loved his wife, his daughters and his son just as much. He was deeply proud of his loving family. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Silence Griffitts, son Scott Griffitts, twin brother Raymond Lee Griffitts, and sister May Griffitts. Richard is survived by his wife Nita Griffitts, daughters Melissa Martin and Maegen Quiett, brother Bud Griffitts, sister Edie Huffman, and 6 grandchildren. A special thank you to River Valley Home Health and Hospice for being there when we needed you. A Celebration of Life will be held June 24, 2023 at 4 PM, at the Lake Havasu City Seventh-Day Aventist Church. In lieu of flowers, in honor of Richard’s spirit, the family asks that you do something fun, perform a random act of kindness, and share a laugh with someone.
