Obituary of DOUGLAS SMITH
Please share a memory of DOUGLAS to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglas Adrian Smith was born July 27, 1957 in Sacramento, CA and passed away August 26, 2012. His friends knew him as "Joe Dirt". Doug was a painter by trade and also worked for the labor union in Reno, NV for several years. He moved to Kingman approximately ten years ago to help care for his mother. Doug always loved music. He played the trumpet in the school band as a young boy. As an adult he played the acoustic and electric guitar, and could often be heard humming tunes on his harmonica. He spent many hours making music with friends and playing in a rock band when he could. He was known to many as a kind and caring soul. He was always lending a helping hand. He took joy in making people smile, playing pranks and practical jokes. He loved taking care of things, anything, and especially took serious the health, happiness and wellbeing of his mother. He loved to fish and he loved his family. His daughter was his pride and joy.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley B. Baker, his sister, Darla Wright and her husband Craig, his niece and nephew Callie and Carl Wright; His daughter, Jasmine West and her fiancé Kevin Ulp, and his stepson, Christopher. He will also be missed by many cousins. Our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend....He is now "jamming" in heaven. "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson
