Edwin Ralph Schweizer transitioned to a new existence on March 24, 2023 peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. Ed was 82 years old. He was born in El Monte, California and Ed was the third child of Bill and Myrtle Schweiser.
He attended Bassett Elementary School and El Monte High School. After graduation he decided to serve his country in The United States Air Force. He would eventually end up graduating from Rio Hondo Community College.
He worked as a Los Angeles police officer, but ultimately retired from Allstate Insurance Company in 1996 after 28 years. Ed and Carol lived in Crestline, California for 28 years prior to coming to Havasu in 1999.
He was a published author with 17 E-Books on Amazon. He was a poet, an essayist and long time contributor to the Havasu Herald with Letters to the Editor and Orchids and Onions. Ed rallied 4x4’s, motorcycles and raced stock cars. A lover of boats, both power and sail. He was a traveler and adventurer. Ed was also an avid community volunteer with California Department of Forestry, U.S. Forest Service, a military funeral docent, DAV, Hospice of Havasu.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Carol, son Wayne of Texas, daughter Suzanne Stossel of Oklahoma and son Eric of California as well as eight grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded by his youngest son Greg in 2017, sister Alice and brothers Bill and Jim.
