Dick has been my father-in-law for 4 years, he has been a big part of my life for forty plus years. I remember getting my first motorcycle from him and Carol when I was twelve, that was such a great day.
When we were neighbors at the lake I remember watching him in the summer come home from work, within minutes I would see him in the yard in his shorts and never a shirt! If it was really hot that day then you would see Dick diving off the end of the dock.
Dick was always busy in his yard and if not mowing he would be driving around the lake in his big deck boat, bass boat and in the later years his pontoon.
Dick had so many stories, even if he told the same ones over and over I enjoyed listening to him.
If you knew Dick, you knew he loved company and loved to be the grill master.
I will miss our talks, pontoon rides and of course all the happy hours we had. The lake will never be the same without him.
Love you Dick.

My fondest memories of my little brother “Dickie” .
We were raised in a coal mining camp and slept in the same bed. Indoor plumbing was not a thing. We walked the creek bed to school and played marbles. Our mom made sure we went to church and respected everyone. Dad worked hard in the mines and was covered in coal dust at the end of the day.
Dad was drafted into the Marines and we lived with our Grandparents until his safe return. We moved to Detroit,Michigan. Dad drove his Harley up and we rode up with friends. At that time Charlie and Sandra were with us. Dick and I had paper routes for spending money. Dick enjoyed the corner candy store !! He even bought his own fancy bicycle. Which got stolen after a couple of weeks. Paulette and Dennis were soon born and added to our wonderful childhood.
Dick you will be missed and thank you for the memories!! Grant

I couldn’t have asked for a better father-in-law and like so many others, I am going to miss your heartwarming hugs, love for your family and quick wit.
Just like that you could come up with something to make anyone laugh. That’s a gift that I see passed on to Ray and our boys, and I am so grateful for you and the legacy you have left behind in not only them but your whole family.
You loved and were so proud of Ray and Lori for so many reasons and then along came the grandkids. You loved being a papa. I remember when Ashley was born, you said how you thought she had your hairline, that was pretty cute.
And your love for Carol, it’s a love not everyone is lucky enough to find in their lifetime. I’m pretty sure that love was evident to all who knew both of you. What an amazing example you set and how lucky we all were to be able to witness that for so many years.
I love you and am going to miss you lots and am working on Ray to pass on those awesome bear hugs!
Cheri

Grandpa was one of the kindest, selfless, most generous person I have ever met. I can’t even begin to recollect the amount of great memories that I have with him. From the pontoon rides, to going fishing, to just hanging out by the lake (notice the theme!)
Having great grandparents in your life is truly a luxury and I am grateful my children will have memories of him. It warmed my heart seeing them interact and reminded me of all those great times and memories with him when I was a kid. He exponentially enhanced my childhood and my life and was a pristine role model of an all around wonderful person. He was loved my many and in turn will be greatly missed.
Love you Papa, rest in peace.
Your grandson,
Anthony

There are so many wonderful memories growing up with a great dad. He was always teaching me about motorcycles, cars, lawnmowers, and pretty much anything with an engine. I cherished all the times in the shop working on bikes and 4-wheelers with him.
Dad was always so excited to see you when you came to the house. He loved visits and each one was a cause for a big hug, excited smile and a celebration. It didn't matter how long you were visiting. We loved to visit.
Of course everyone knows dad loved to tell stories. He could remember a story connected to just about anything. It was always fun to hear the same stories over the years with some facts maybe slightly evolving over time.
The pontoon rides were legendary and he enjoyed being the captain. Always getting updates on everyone around the lake. Of course the midpoint stop at Cary and Lori's for a pitstop and refill was a must.
Dad was always so proud of us kids and our spouses and enjoyed all our times together. But nothing compared to the grandkids. He loved and cherished every moment with them. I remember one time while hunting, we came in for lunch and he asked if I wanted to hunt more or go see the grand babies! While we had so many memories riding motorcycles, snowmobiles and 4-wheelers, one of the best times was when I had won my division in a motocross race. He was so excited and was running to the finish line to congratulate me!
I will miss all the times together, fishing, boating, visiting, and sitting and listening to the master story teller. I love and miss him terribly.

You know how there are some people that you just always look forward to seeing because you know they will make you smile, make you feel welcome and loved, and make you leave in a better mood than when you arrived…that is my uncle Dick and aunt Carol!
We will miss all of Dick’s smiles, stories, laughs, and mostly his bear hugs.
We hope they have dancing in heaven and they play Johnny Be Good just for you. ;-)
Have a cocktail, share some stories and hugs with family and friends in heaven and most importantly please watch over Carol.
We love you and miss you!

Dick was a good friend, great brother in law, and fun traveling companion.
We traveled with Carol and Dick to Hawaii twice, Jamaica twice, Bahamas twice, to Mexico over half a dozen times, not to mention Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, Branson, Las Vegas many times and lastly Arizona.
We always had a good time and never a disagreement.
Dick, your laughter, kindness and those bear hugs cannot ever be replaced.
We will really miss you.
Love you so much. ❤️

Papa was a kind, gentle, and caring soul who had a quicker wit than anyone I know. Above all else, he was compassionate. Not once could you walk into that house without feeling the love that built it. I truly feel honored and proud to be able to call him my grandpa.
I’ll miss the pontoon rides with you at the helm and me losing my sunglasses. I’ll miss you telling me “good afternoon!” After I slept in a bit and woke up at 9 am. I’ll definitely miss the the sing songy tunes we mumbled back and forth to each other. More than anything though, I’ll just miss you papa. I love you with all my heart and I expect you to have a drink ready for me when we meet again.
All my love,
Your grandson,
Alex

Papa: the man, the myth, the legend. I’ve always grew up knowing my grandpa was the toughest guy in town. However, he had a big soft spot for his grand-babies. When my dad passed away papa stepped up to help fill that supportive fatherly role and even showed up to all my college hockey games. I’ll never forget his smiles when telling us stories, his incredible dancing abilities, and his famous Bloody Mary’s. Papa will be truly missed. This isn’t a goodbye though, it’s a “see you later” and I will see you again papa.
Love you so much.

Everyone who knows me knows how much I cherish my relationship with my grandparents. You both mean the absolute world to me and I am so grateful for all the years we have had making memories together. Gramps, you lit up every room you were in with your big hugs, grand stories, and those classic one liners that made everyone around you smile. You lived your life to the absolute fullest and loved harder than anyone I know. I am going to miss our happy hour drinks, our pontoon rides, you telling me how to fix my car or telling me directions even though you know I’m going to have to Google it all later anyways (ha!), you telling me “you’re so pretty,” you singing and dancing along to every song, sharing our love for reading, and most of all, I am going to miss you. I love you so much and look forward to the day we meet again and I can get one of those great big hugs from you. But until then, I know you’ll be watching over Daxton and I every single day. Say hi to my Dad for me! Cheers Papa!
Love,
Kelsey

To best describe my Dad is to say he was the most loving, humble, honest Man I have ever met. I admired his strong work ethic, his ability to bring so much joy to everyone around him and the way he knew just what to say in times that I needed strength.
When I think of what I will miss most about my Dad it would be his hugs, they would make me feel so loved and happy inside. Everyone who knew him would expect a big bear hug greeting. My Dad loved to dance, he could light up the dance floor while singing along to most every song. I often took pride just watching him, he was one of the cool Dads that everyone loved.
He was the best Dad and Grandpa anyone could ever ask for, I will miss him deeply until we are reunited again.
I love you Dad.
