Obituary of James Leroy Cooper
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James “Jim” Cooper
A pioneer of Havasu for 57 years passed away at his home at Happy Jack, in the Yucca area, at the age of 79, on February 20, 2023 with his companion Ruthie by his side.
Jim moved to Lake Havasu in 1966, where he owned Standard Drywall for years till he sold it. Then, he had Mohave Cactus for years.
He loved being outside with Ruthie, caring for the cactus at Happy Jack and Lookout. He would always have a best friend by his side working in the desert-his dogs..
He loved his family with his whole heart and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him..a gentle soul. One of Jim and his mothers’(Freda) favorite saying was when we said “We will get around tuit”.
He is survived by his oldest daughter Deanna(Willie), youngest son Glen, nieces Amey(Bob), Debi, nephew Robert(Bobby) and daughter-in-law Dawn, son-in-law Thomas(Tom) and many great grandchildren and a few greats. Also Aunt Ada and many cousins back east.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Emmett, mother Freda, brother Gene, wife Diane, oldest son Curtis and youngest daughter Jackie(JC) and a few aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jim enjoyed the peace and quiet of the ranch, so there will a small gathering at a later date.
