Obituary of Brenda Kathleen Zacharias

Brenda Kathleen Zacharias (Garens), known as Binnie or Boop to some, passed away in death, at home, after a long battle with multiple health issues. She was a Medina County resident from her birth to Dennie Willis Garens and Margaret Mable (Reigel) Garnes in Lodi, Ohio in 1947, until she moved with her family to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, in 2011. Brenda married her beloved Vancel on May 27, 1966, and they were together until his death in 2002. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law Abigail and Nicholas LoCascio, her sister Dennita (Daniel) Hinman, and her brothers James (Pamela) Garens and Christopher (Rhonda) Garens as well as her sister-in-law, Judith Zacharias (Clinton), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband as well as her siblings, Judith Heckman (Ed), Larry Garens (Jan), David Garens, Darlynn Atwood (Tracy), Mark Garens (Linda) and Paul Garens (Carol). Brenda was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses from the age of 17 until her death. Her faith in Jehovah God gave her strength and hope until her final day. One of her favorite Scriptures was Isaiah 41:10,13. Her pastimes and talents included: reading; writing poetry and children's stories; sewing and embroidery; homeschooling her daughter and planning outings for their homeschool group; canning and freezing produce from their garden; and conserving energy by drying laundry on the clothesline in the summer. Her many pets over the years brought her much joy and entertainment, especially her current kitty, Zippi, who misses her very much. However, the one thing that brought her the most joy was sharing Bible truths with others.
