Obituary of Todd Prescott Sosey

Todd Prescott Sosey passed away at the age of 44 on January 29, 2023. Todd was born and raised in Lake Havasu City, graduating from Lake Havasu High School and going on to get his Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration and Beverage management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2004. He put his degree to work with “The Bar”, in Las Vegas and when that closed, he got involved with the Mohave County Sheriff’s department Search and Rescue organization, helping to develop a chapter in Northern Mohave County known as “The Strip” serving as it’s Commander. Todd moved back to Lake Havasu and became actively involved with the Lake Havasu City Search and Rescue Organization in 2014. His knowledge and love of technical rope rescue industry was integrated into their wilderness rescues and he went on to be an Arizona Search and Rescue Coordinator, where he gave his passion and love to the rescue efforts of people he had never met. Encouraged by a colleague, he joined the River Medical family in 2021 as a certified Emergency Medical technician, graduating 1st in his class and receiving the Don W Danielson Memorial Fire Fighters Award on behalf of the LHPFFA for being the top student in the Spring Semester EMT class. From his daily job as an EMT to his volunteer positions with the Mohave County and Lake Havasu City Search and Rescue organizations, Todd gave his all to his community, his colleagues and all the people he came in contact with. He was so proud of both his job and his volunteer activities. The impact he has made on his family, his friends, his co-workers and his community (both in Lake Havasu and his beloved Bay Lake) will be remembered and valued forever. Todd is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Dorothy & Kern Sosey, Patricia Goldwater, David Goldwater, George R Homer and his big brother Timothy Sosey. He is survived by his parents Walter & Hilary Sosey, brother Scott Sosey, sister Laura (Troy) Herbst, Aunt DeeDee (John) Mahaffay, Uncle John Sosey, Uncle Garrett Goldwater, Uncle Bruce Homer, Cousins Megan Mackin Admundson, Darren (Anya) Mackin, Liz (Tom) Boates, Samantha (Michael) Brickman, and Mathew Sosey, along with his nieces and nephews. Donations may be made in Todd’s name to “Lake Havasu City Search and Rescue”, Lake Havasu Search and Rescue, P.O. Box 54 – Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405. A visitation will be held at Lietz- Fraze funeral home on February 9, 2023 at 5pm.
