Obituary of Joan Mary Masche

Our beloved mother passed away at her home with her family at her side on January 10, 2023. She was born August 1, 1932, in Jackson Heights, NY to John and Delia Gibbons. She met Bill Masche on a blind date, and they were married in 1951. They initially lived in Jackson Heights where their family began, before moving to Brentwood in 1960. Mom was the COO of our clan in the ‘60s before working for Sears, Roebuck & Co. in the ‘70s. In 1980, the family moved to Lake Havasu where Mom would work for Havasu Regional Medical Center for 28 years. Mom will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who was always there to listen and guide, who made sure Santa always brought practical gifts like socks, underwear, oranges, and walnuts, and who greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and reading. Mom was kind, patient and unfailing in her love. Mom lived a wonderful life and made precious memories for her family. She will be deeply missed. Joan is preceded in death by her husband, William Masche Sr.; her parents, John and Delia Gibbons; her sister, Rita and brother, Jack. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Laura) and John (Audra); her daughters, Patricia (Bruce) Masche-Weinberg, Carol, Barbara and Jeanne (Jim) Milner; her grandchildren Billy (Shawnah), Bryan, Bobby (Jennifer), Ava and Jack; her great-grandchildren Jaxx, Jett, Michaela, Savannah, Bailey, Grant, Cole, Molli, Blake; beloved nieces and nephews and her “special elf” Natalie. Visitation and vigil will be held on January 13th at 6:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Mass will be held on January 14th at 1:30 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church with committal afterwards. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
