He was born in Long Beach, California in July 1932 and lived his early life in Wilmington California graduating from Banning High School in 1951. After marrying Pauline Newson, he and his wife resided in Torrance, California until 1993 when they retired to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was a Korean War veteran, having served four years in the Air Force. From a young age, he was fascinated with making model airplanes. He continued that hobby the remainder of his life, and was a member of the Desert Hawks.
