Obituary of James Herbert Paul Miller

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ames “Jim” Miller, age 81, of Lake Havasu City, AZ, passed away peacefully holding his wife’s hand on December 15, 2022. Jim was born in Chicago, IL, on January 28, 1941. He was the son of the late Herbert Julius Mueller (Miller) and Helen (Miller) Zarek, née Kolcz. Jim was a proud 4th generation Chicagoan, Lane Tech high school graduate, and accomplished musician. He served in the Army as an MP stationed in Paris, France, where he met 3 U.S. presidents and traveled across Europe on assignments. He transferred skills from the Army (investigation, negotiation, law enforcement) and became a talented public insurance adjuster, helping others during catastrophes and tough situations. He was an all-around good neighbor in Illinois. Mr. Miller was also a soccer coach, collegiate referee, VFW member, and lifetime fan of the Chicago Bears. Jim’s life revolved around his family. He loved his wife (Joyce) of 60 years, his children, sons-in-law, grandchildren and pet dogs. He had a smile, a warm greeting and a story for everyone who passed along his route, delivered in his booming voice. Retiring in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, he enjoyed every sunny day and the hot weather, saying that he didn’t miss the snow or shoveling. Jim was loved and his family will miss him. He lived a full life and his memories will be cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you will consider donating to honor his memory (and love of pets) to Western Arizona Humane Society in Lake Havasu City, AZ at https://westernarizonahumane.org/donate/ Or Hospice of the Valley to ensure peace to those in need:  https://hov.org/donate/
