Obituary of Mary Calleja

Mary Calleja, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2022, at the age of 84. She was born on August 2nd, 1937, to her parents and siblings in Damascus, Syria as a strong Christian woman. At 17 years old, she came to the United States as a nanny. Mary was a beautiful woman who modeled and knit for a high-end clothing company in San Francisco, CA. During this time, she met and fell in love with George Mark Calleja. Together, they moved to Sonoma, CA, and raised five sons. Mary was a proud certified nursing assistant and an incredible cook. Those who knew her will always recall her working in the kitchen and preparing her family some of her favorite dishes. Later in Mary’s life, her favorite pastime was playing the slot machines with George by her side. If she and her husband were not winning the slots, they traveled together on cruise ships. Mary Calleja is preceded in death by her husband, George. She is survived by her children, Mark, Thomas, Chris, Jerry, and Billy. She was blessed with an abundance of love for her grandchildren. To this day, the number of great-grandchildren grows. The funeral service will occur on Friday, October 7th, 2022, at 8:00 am and is located at the Covenant Church, 113 Acoma Blvd N, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
