Obituary of Marie Rose Muehlbauer

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Rose (Gurskey) Muehlbauer, 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022 with daughter Carole at her side. Born on January 16, 1937 to parents Peter and Grace Gurskey, the family, including brother Donald and sisters Margaret and Dorothy, lived in Merrill, Wisconsin. Marie married her loving husband, Marvin Muehlbuer in Merrill on June 23, 1956. Together, they had four children, Judy, Joe, Carole and Jim. In 1966, the family relocated to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Where they owned and operated Prairie Motor Parts for 25 + years. Marie’s final move, in 2001, brought her home to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where she lived with daughter Carole until her passing. Marie was a proud, life-long member of Lions Clubs International. In the early days, she served as an eye-runner, helping to transport organs for implantation to those in need from PDC to Madison WI. In 2007, Marie was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. This honor was established as Lions Clubs International Foundation’s highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service. She was the secretary of the local chapter of Lions Club for many years and loved helping out with Lake Havasu City’s Balloon Fest every year. In her spare time, she loved her garden of roses and gladiolas, taking great pride in the large blooms she produced every year. An avid Danielle Steel fan, she loved her books, knitting and crocheting. She spent countless hours volunteering at her local church doing whatever needed to get done. And perhaps most of all, she LOVED her snowman and angel collections. Over the years, she and Carole had amassed a collection of over 5,000 snowmen from all over the US, in all shapes, sizes and colors! And, she had over 700 angels for the Christmas holiday as well! Marie is preceded in death by her husband Marvin (2004), her parents Peter and Grace, and brother Donald Gurksey. She is survived by her children Judy (Richard Molumby), Joe (Sallee), Carole and Jim (Beth), sisters Margaret Welbes and Dorothy Klempke, and 4 grandchildren (Kelsey, Rebecca, Nicholas and Colin). Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with a Rosary, followed by a burial Mass. Interment will follow immediately at Havasu Memorial Gardens. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
