Obituary of Rick Cronin

James R. Cronin, “RICK” , 63 of Kingman, Arizona, passed away on December 18, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona. Rick was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan to John Leonard and Betty Jean Cronin on October 26, 1958. Rick attended Kingman Highschool, now known as Lee Williams, and graduated in 1976. Rick lived and worked in Kingman for more than 40 years with his last job being a tour guide for Grand Canyon West before his medical retirement in 2017 following two strokes. Rick loved the sport of fishing and loved sharing his skill and knowledge of the sport with friends and family alike. Next to spending time with his family, his favorite thing to do was to launch his boat at the South Cove launch ramp of Lake Mead and stay out there for hours on end. Rick is survived by his wife, Cynthia Cronin of Kingman, AZ; Sons; Jason Cronin, Simon Villegas, and Justin Walton. Siblings; John Cronin, (Stephanie, Christina, &Jessica), Marion Duchene (Linda, Joe, & Barry), Frieda Benson, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John L. Cronin, mother, Betty J. Cronin, Sisters; Patsy Raleigh, (children: Gary & Duane), and Pamela Gregg, (children: Don, Bob, & Ed). Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in the name of Rick Cronin. He was especially fond of animals, so donating to a no kill shelter in your area would be greatly appreciated if you don’t already have a charity organization close to your heart. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the family and friends that have lent their kindness and support during this difficult time, as well as to the staff of Lietz-Fraze funeral home who stepped up with compassionate and professional assistance in graciously navigating bringing Rick home to his wife and son from Phoenix, AZ to Kingman AZ. Thank you. On a special note, Rick truly loved his wife, children,friends, and family as much as anyone could. He was especially proud of his son Simon and took special care to be there for him as he journeyed from his childhood into becoming the extraordinary young man that he is. Simon always made him smile and they both just had each other’s back no matter what. Rick was also especially close to his nephew, Ed Gregg, his lifelong friend, Jim Hardin, friend, Marshall Shannon, and his granddaughter Jazmyn Walton. He would want you all to know that you will be missed and that you made his life better just being there to lend an ear and love him unconditionally. Something he most likely would have said after telling everyone that he loved them would have been, “Live Long and Prosper!” He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor!
