Obituary of Kathleen Anne O'Neal

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen A. O’Neal (nee Nicholas and May), also known as Katie, passed away Tuesday morning, December 7th at the age of 79. Katie, or Kay as she was known to her family, was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She married Peter May a few years after graduation and had one child, Marty, who she bragged about constantly. In 1968, the little family moved to Monterey, California, where they lived for many years. In 1999, Katie and her friend, Gladys Goodwin, moved to Lake Havasu, where they shared a house, until Gladys’ passing in 2015. During her working life, Katie worked in banking, insurance, and real estate, but always her most important job title was “Mom.” Katie is survived by her son, Marty May, who lives in Denver, Colorado; her sister, Donna Stacy of Dalton, Massachusetts; and her brother, Robert Nicholas of Saratoga Springs, New York. Katie was an active volunteer, contributing time and money to many organizations, especially those related to kids and animals, both of which she just loved. She was also a volunteer at the cancer center in Lake Havasu. On several occasions, Katie even took it upon herself to raise money for families whose kids were diagnosed with a life threatening disease. For those who knew her well, or even just met her once, Katie was generous and kind and lit up any room she walked into. She made friends easily and always loved to meet new people and help anyone who needed it. She always looked to find the good in folks. Katie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Arrangements were placed into the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
