Obituary of Ruth Ann Sherwood

Ruth Ann Sherwood, age 87, passed away on December 6, 2021, at Havasu Regional Medical Center. She was born in Santa Barbara, California, on April 15, 1934, to Arthur and Wilma Mowry. Ruth moved to San Diego, California, in 1944. She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School. She married the love of her life of 61 years, Bart Sherwood, in Pomona, California. After marrying, she and Bart moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1957. She worked for and retired from "Ma Bell" (Mountain Bell) in 1986, after 24 years of service. After retirement, she and Bart moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, in 2000. Ruth was a member of The Lady Elks Lodge #476 and #2399 and Telephone Pioneers of America. For the many years that her daughters were involved with Job’s Daughters, she served as Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel #1. As the proud wife of a life-long Elk, Shriner, and 32 Degree Mason, she devoted countless hours supporting Bart. Some of her interests included crafting, Stamping-Up!, card making, ceramics, painting, and crocheting. She was an avid crocheter which kept her mind sharp and her hands strong. She would crochet over 12 afghan lap blankets every year and donate them to children and veteran hospitals to comfort patients. Ruth and Bart enjoyed volunteering at the local Moose lodge, cooking and serving dinner once a month. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kriss (Johnny) Rico, Karen (Don Reinhardt) Dale, Kim (Sue) Sherwood, her granddaughter, Kari Lofton, and her great-grandchildren, J.T. Lofton and Khloe Dale. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bart Sherwood, her parents, Arthur and Wilma Mowry, her brother, Robert Mowry, and her grandson, Ryan Patrick Dale. A celebration of life will be held at the home on December 17, 2021 from 3 - 6 pm. Arrangements were placed into the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
