Obituary of Ruth Courtney

In a world of confusion, strife and uncertainty, our family was blessed to have at its center a woman of faith, bottomless love & compassion ~~ our mother/grandmother, Ruth Courtney. Although Ruth lived on the west coast most of her life she never lost those special traits of her native New York Coty: intelligence, determination, energy, style, class and of course, that hilarious New York accent. A cup of “cawfee” started each morning. She was married to our father, James Harby Courtney, for 65 years and raised her three daughter’s Linda, Jeannine “Gina” and Rebecca in Pasadena, California. Ruth was a college graduate and worked as a wedding director, office manager and medical practice manager. She is the only person we’ve ever known who was so highly organized that her clothes closet looked like a display at high-end department store. As a world traveler, Ruth loved to explore and of course, SHOP! She delighted in finding gifts for everyone from China, Europe and other exotic locations. Ruth loved God and raised her family with high moral standards. Every day of her life was devoted to loving our ever expanding family. Whether events in life were exciting or terrifying, mom was the first one EVERYBODY called. She was our rock. We love you, Ruthie, and will see you again.
