Edward Garber, affectionately known as “Fast Eddie”, passed away peacefully August 16, 2021 while under Hospice care in Bullhead City, Arizona. He was born October 5, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa to Ernest and Elizabeth Garber. Edward met and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Sue Bowers in Waterloo Iowa. They were married June 12, 1948 in Waterloo where they raised their three children. In 1967 they were invited to a promotional from the McCulloch Corporation to come and see a new development called, Lake Havasu, which would later become their paradise. In 1976 they said goodbye to the bitter cold Iowa winters and hello to the Arizona sunshine and Southwest lifestyle. They enjoyed exploring the history and beauty of the desert, mountains and sailing on the waters of Lake Havasu. Ed loved his family, church and many friends and was dedicated to serving others and his community. His wit and good nature always brought a smile to others. Edward was a member and a first reader of the Christian Science Church in Lake Havasu City. He enjoyed playing piano, wood working, building boats, sailing, playing harmonica, watching old movies, and listening to jazz music. Edward retired from the United States Post Office and was a long-haul truck driver and a professional pianist. Edward was an active member of the United States Naval Reserve for twenty years. Edward is survived by his children; Sons, Frank Garber and wife Carol of North Oaks, MN; Kirk Garber of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Daughter Louann Leon of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Sister Avis Buckley and husband George of Kingman, AZ.; three Grandchildren; Tory Garber and husband Raul Gonzales; Lute Garber and wife Cassandra; Joshua Garber and wife Kate; five Great-Grandchildren; Abigail, Lute, Juliette, Sophia, Grayson; and loving friend Lucy Jane Wynkoop. He was preceded in death by his Wife of 50 years, Betty Sue Garber; Parents, Elizabeth and Ernest Garber; and Brother, Jan Garber. We love you Dad / Boompa / Great Boompa! Sail on Fast Eddie!
